DreamWorks Animation has unveiled an impressive musical lineup for the soundtrack of its upcoming animated fantasy adventure Forgotten Island, with Grammy-winning artist H.E.R., Filipino pop sensation BINI, Broadway legend Lea Salonga, and Sophia Laforteza of global girl group Katseye among the featured performers, as reported by Variety and Yahoo News. The soundtrack accompanies one of DreamWorks’ most anticipated original films of 2026, a Filipino folklore-inspired adventure that celebrates friendship, identity, and cultural heritage.
According to details revealed ahead of the film’s release, BINI will contribute a brand-new original song titled “A Parallel World,” produced by composer Nathan Matthew David and Shawn Wasabi. Meanwhile, Sophia Laforteza delivers a reimagined version of the INXS classic “Never Tear Us Apart,” a song that filmmakers say plays a key role in portraying the emotional bond between the film’s central characters. Lea Salonga, who also lends her voice to a major character in the movie, is expected to contribute vocals to the soundtrack, adding another layer of Filipino representation to the project.
Forgotten Island stars H.E.R. and Liza Soberano as lifelong friends Jo and Raissa, whose final adventure together leads them into the magical island of Nakali, a world inspired by Filipino mythology and folklore. Directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, the film features a voice cast that includes Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Jo Koy, Dolly de Leon, and Ronny Chieng. DreamWorks has positioned the film as a celebration of Filipino storytelling and culture, making it one of the studio’s most culturally distinctive releases to date.
For the global music and entertainment industry, the soundtrack represents a landmark collaboration between established international stars and some of the most influential voices in contemporary Filipino music. Industry observers say the project highlights the growing global demand for diverse cultural storytelling and reinforces the increasing prominence of Filipino artists in mainstream entertainment. As anticipation builds ahead of the film’s September release, Forgotten Island is already emerging as a significant moment for both animation and global music representation.
