Grammy Award winner Tems has been named Executive Music Producer and Curator of the official soundtrack for Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone, further cementing her influence beyond music performance into creative leadership in global entertainment. According to BellaNaija and NotjustOk, Tems will oversee the soundtrack’s artistic direction while contributing three original songs, joined by Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML and BNXN in an all African lineup that celebrates the continent’s musical excellence.

Director Gina Prince-Bythewood said Tems became the first woman to executive produce a soundtrack of this scale, praising her vision in shaping the film’s musical identity. Burna Boy will serve as Executive Music Consultant, while Ayra Starr, who also makes her Hollywood acting debut in the film, joins Fireboy DML and BNXN on the soundtrack. “She put together an epic soundtrack. There are absolutely no skips,” Prince-Bythewood said of Tems’ work on the project. Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled for theatrical release on 15 January 2027.
The project marks another significant milestone for Afrobeats as African artists continue to shape major global film productions beyond traditional soundtrack contributions. For the entertainment industry, Tems’ appointment reflects the growing international recognition of African creatives as executive decision makers, while reinforcing Hollywood’s increasing investment in African storytelling, music and cultural authenticity. The collaboration also strengthens the global commercial appeal of Afrobeats through one of the most anticipated fantasy films of 2027.

Looking ahead, the soundtrack is expected to become a landmark showcase for African music on the global stage, introducing audiences to original works from some of the continent’s biggest stars. With Tems leading its creative direction and a powerhouse lineup supporting the project, Children of Blood and Bone is positioned to become both a cinematic and musical milestone for African entertainment worldwide.
