Ghana’s Economy Expands 5.5% in Third Quarter of 2025

Ghana’s economy grew by 5.5 percent in the third quarter of 2025, driven by stronger performance in services, industry and agriculture, the Ghana Statistical Service reported on Thursday. The outturn marks a continuation of the country’s recovery momentum following a period of economic adjustment and fiscal consolidation, according to the official release cited by Reuters.

The services sector remained the largest contributor to growth, supported by increased activity in trade, transport and information technology. Growth in the industry segment was buoyed by manufacturing and construction, while improved rainfall boosted agricultural output, the statistical service said, as reported by local media outlets.

Economists welcomed the data, noting that the 5.5 percent expansion exceeded market expectations and reflected resilient domestic demand and improved business confidence. “The Q3 GDP figures underscore Ghana’s ability to sustain growth in a challenging global environment,” a senior economist told Reuters.

The third quarter performance signals positive progress toward the government’s 2025 growth target and provides a platform for investment inflows, particularly in sectors such as energy, infrastructure and digital services. Observers said the trend also aligns with recent improvements in inflation and external balances, supporting a more stable macroeconomic outlook.
