Sudan’s Cholera Outbreak Deepens Economic Strain Amid Conflict

Sudan is facing a sharp rise in cholera cases as the war continues to devastate its health system and economy. According to AP News, more than 2,300 new infections and 40 deaths were reported in Darfur in just one week, bringing total suspected cases since July 2024 to nearly 99,700 with 2,470 fatalities.

The World Health Organization has warned that hunger and disease are spreading rapidly, with cholera infections also detected among refugees in eastern Chad.
