Renault Backed Wandercraft Targets €100 Million to Scale AI Powered Robotics

French robotics company Wandercraft is seeking up to €100 million in fresh funding as it accelerates the commercialisation of its self balancing exoskeletons and humanoid robots, building on growing investor and industrial interest in its technology, according to Bloomberg. The company, which develops AI enabled robotic systems for people with mobility challenges and industrial applications, previously secured $75 million in Series D funding in 2025 with backing from Renault Group and other investors.

The fundraising comes as Wandercraft moves from technology development toward large scale commercial deployment. Its Eve personal exoskeleton recently received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for eligible wheelchair users living with spinal cord injuries, opening the way toward a broader commercial launch. Meanwhile, its Calvin humanoid robot has moved from prototype development into Renault’s manufacturing operations, with Renault committing to a fleet of 350 robots by 2027.

Renault’s involvement gives Wandercraft an important industrial advantage. The automaker became a minority investor and strategic partner in 2025, with both companies working on next generation robots designed initially for Renault factories. Renault is also expected to contribute its manufacturing expertise to help Wandercraft scale production and reduce unit costs, potentially turning the French startup’s robotics platform into a larger industrial business.

The proposed funding would position Wandercraft to compete more aggressively in the rapidly expanding robotics market while pursuing opportunities across healthcare, rehabilitation and industrial automation. With Eve moving closer to commercial deployment and Calvin already demonstrating factory applications, the capital raise could mark a critical transition for the company from a specialist medical robotics developer into a broader European robotics platform.
