Femi Adebayo Unveils Star Studded Cast for Jagun Jagun 2 Ahead of Netflix Premiere

Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has unveiled an expanded cast for Jagun Jagun 2, the sequel to his award-winning 2023 Yoruba epic, bringing together some of Nollywood’s biggest names alongside prominent Fuji musicians. In a cast announcement shared on social media on October 16, 2026, Adebayo revealed that Funke Akindele, Fuji music stars Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, as well as comedian Cute Abiola and actors Muka Ray and the late Taiwo Hassan, popularly called Ogogo, will feature in the production. According to Premium Times, the sequel is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 4, 2026, following an announcement by Adebayo that the film had completed a demanding production journey.

The new additions will join several performers returning from the original film, including Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele D Icon, Fathia Balogun, Adebayo Salami, Muyiwa Ademola, Yinka Quadri and Dele Odule. Adebayo said the cast brought a range of performances to the fictional world, combining power, anger, restraint and unexpected moments to make the characters feel authentic. The first Jagun Jagun, directed by Tope Adebayo Salami and Adebayo Tijani, followed a young warrior, Gbotija, whose growing strength threatens the authority of the powerful warlord Ogundiji. Released on Netflix on August 10, 2023, the film earned recognition at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, winning Best Indigenous Language Movie for West Africa and Best Costume Design.

The sequel’s expanded ensemble signals Femi Adebayo’s continued ambition to build the Jagun Jagun franchise into a major title within Nigerian epic cinema. Bringing together established screen actors, comedy talent and celebrated Fuji musicians also broadens the film’s cultural appeal, drawing on different audiences across Nigeria and the wider African entertainment market. The inclusion of the late Taiwo Hassan adds particular interest to the casting announcement, although the circumstances of his appearance in the film have not been fully detailed in the reports. With Netflix set to distribute the sequel internationally, Jagun Jagun 2 will have an opportunity to reach audiences beyond Nigeria while continuing the story and visual world introduced in the original production.
