Nollywood faith-based film Agbára Ńlá: The Return has grossed more than ₦307.2 million at the Nigerian box office, becoming the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026. The film’s distributor, Nile Entertainment, announced the milestone on 16 October, describing the production as the highest-grossing Nollywood title ever released in October. According to reports by QED.ng and The Telegraph Nigeria, the achievement follows a strong opening period that generated more than ₦170.6 million within the film’s first four days in cinemas.
Released in cinemas on 1 October 2026, Agbára Ńlá: The Return is a remake of the 1993 Christian classic created by veteran filmmaker Mike Bamiloye. The new production was directed by his sons, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, also known as Jay Mikee, with Mike Bamiloye returning to the story. According to QED.ng, the film earned approximately ₦71.4 million from preview screenings before generating a further ₦99.2 million during its first full weekend, bringing its initial four-day total to about ₦170.6 million.
The film’s latest performance highlights the commercial potential of faith-based storytelling in Nigeria’s cinema market, particularly when established stories are reintroduced to new audiences through theatrical releases. It now trails Call of My Life, Love and New Notes and The Return of Arinzo in the reported 2026 Nollywood box-office ranking, according to The Business Times. While the ₦307.2 million figure marks a significant milestone, box-office gross does not represent net profit, as cinema revenue is shared among industry stakeholders and must be considered alongside production, marketing and distribution costs.
