Bola Shagaya is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bolmus Group International, a diversified conglomerate with interests spanning oil and gas, real estate, banking, and photography. Born in Ilorin, Kwara State, she studied Economics and Accountancy at Ahmadu Bello University and Armstrong College in California before beginning her career in the audit department of the Central Bank of Nigeria. She transitioned into business in 1983, identifying opportunities in trade and distribution that would later form the foundation of her expanding business empire.

She introduced the Konica brand of photographic materials into Nigeria and West Africa, establishing a strong foothold in distribution before expanding into energy through Practoil Limited, one of Nigeria’s largest importers and distributors of base oil. Over time, her investments grew into a broad portfolio spanning real estate developments, banking interests, and industrial ventures, positioning her among the wealthiest women on the continent.

Bola Shagaya’s impact has been widely recognized through national honours and industry accolades. In 2010, she was conferred with the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger in recognition of her contributions to economic development. In 2012, she received the National Productivity Order of Merit Award, further reinforcing her influence as a business leader. She has also been listed among Africa’s notable millionaires and influential entrepreneurs, reflecting her sustained relevance in business and enterprise leadership.

Beyond business, Bola Shagaya has contributed to institutional and industry development. She has served on the board of Unity Bank and is a member of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development business group in Nigeria. Her involvement across corporate and policy platforms reflects a broader commitment to strengthening economic systems and supporting private sector growth.
