Serena Williams confirms stunning return to tennis at Queen’s Club

Tennis legend Serena Williams is set to make a sensational return to competitive tennis at the Queen’s Club Championships in London, marking her first appearance on tour since stepping away after the 2022 US Open, according to BBC News, Sky News and Yahoo Sports. The 44-year-old will feature in the WTA 500 doubles draw, partnering Canadian rising star Victoria Mboko in a wildcard entry that has electrified the tennis world.

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, had previously suggested she was “evolving away” from tennis, but her return follows renewed speculation after she re-entered the sport’s anti-doping testing pool last year. Her comeback has been widely described as one of the most anticipated moments in recent tennis history.

The Queen’s Club event, held from June 8 to 14, will mark her first competitive match in nearly four years and could serve as a stepping stone toward a possible appearance at Wimbledon, where she has won seven singles titles.

Fans and players have reacted with excitement, with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka calling Williams’ return “very good news for tennis,” highlighting the enduring global impact of the American icon, as reported by Times of India.
