Temi Adeniji Shaping Africa’s Music Industry and Global Influence

Temi Adeniji has become one of the most influential figures in Africa’s recorded music industry, redefining how the continent’s talent is nurtured, promoted, and celebrated on the global stage. As Managing Director of Warner Music Africa and Senior Vice President of Strategy for Sub-Saharan Africa at Warner Music Group, Adeniji has played a pivotal role in connecting African artists to international audiences while strategically expanding the reach of the company across the continent.

Born in Nigeria and educated abroad, Adeniji built a foundation that blends legal expertise with business acumen. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from Princeton University, a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, and a Master of Laws from University College London. She began her professional career in law, working with firms such as Shearman & Sterling and Kirkland & Ellis LLP, before turning her attention to the music industry, where her strategic vision would soon make a transformative impact.

Adeniji joined Warner Music Group in 2016, rising through the ranks from international strategy roles to Vice President and then Senior Vice President of International Recorded Music. In 2021, she was appointed Managing Director of Warner Music Africa, overseeing operations across multiple countries, including the launch of Warner Music Africa Francophone in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Under her leadership, Warner Music Africa also completed the acquisition of Africori, strengthening the company’s presence in digital distribution and music publishing across the continent.

Her impact has been widely recognised. Adeniji has appeared on Billboard’s Global Power Players list in 2025, marking her second consecutive year, and has been featured among Billboard’s Women in Music, highlighting her influence in shaping the careers of African artists and driving the continent’s music industry to new heights. Her strategic guidance has not only opened international markets for African talent but has also fostered local innovation, ensuring that the music ecosystem remains vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive.

Beyond her executive achievements, Adeniji serves on several boards, including The Africa Center in New York, the Rele Arts Foundation, and the investment committee of Influence Media Partners. She also supports emerging platforms such as Afripods, championing African audio content and ensuring that voices across the continent find a global audience.

Temi Adeniji embodies the intersection of vision, leadership, and influence. Through her strategic direction at Warner Music Africa, her mentorship of emerging artists, and her advocacy for African creativity on the world stage, she continues to shape a music industry that not only celebrates talent but also elevates Africa’s presence in the global cultural landscape. Her work demonstrates how expertise, foresight, and purpose-driven leadership can transform industries and inspire generations.
