The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast dust haze and scattered thunderstorms across several parts of the country over the coming days, warning citizens to take necessary precautions against reduced visibility and potential flight disruptions, as reported by The Vanguard.
In its latest weather outlook released on Friday, NiMet said the northern region will experience dust haze conditions with moderate visibility, while thunderstorms are expected in parts of the central and southern states. The agency added that air quality may deteriorate in some areas as a result of suspended dust particles.
“Motorists should drive with caution, and individuals with respiratory issues are advised to wear face masks and avoid outdoor exposure when possible,” NiMet stated. It further urged farmers and outdoor workers to stay alert to changing weather conditions.
The agency’s forecast, as reported by The Guardian, aligns with the seasonal transition pattern typically observed between October and December, when cold dry air masses from the Sahara begin to influence the country’s weather systems.
