Dangote Cement Posts $714 Million Nine Month Profit as Earnings Rise 31%

Dangote Cement Plc has reported a profit after tax of ₦974.79 billion, approximately US$714 million, for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, as stronger revenue, improved operating margins and lower financing costs boosted earnings. According to Billionaire Africa, profit after tax increased 31.2% from ₦743.26 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025. Revenue rose 19.6% to ₦3.77 trillion, while profit before tax climbed 41.5% to ₦1.47 trillion. The results reinforce the performance of Africa’s largest cement producer amid sustained investment in production capacity and efforts to strengthen its position in Nigeria and other African markets.

The company’s gross profit increased 27.7% to ₦2.39 trillion, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation rose 23.7% to ₦1.77 trillion. Operating profit advanced 27.8% to ₦1.57 trillion, supported by improved margins and a sharp reduction in finance costs, which fell 57.8% to ₦120.80 billion. Revenue from Nigerian operations reached ₦2.67 trillion, up 22.5%, while revenue from its Pan-African operations rose 12.6% to ₦1.19 trillion. However, the international segment recorded a loss for the period of ₦7.86 billion, compared with a profit of ₦182.73 billion a year earlier. The figures show that Nigeria remains the principal earnings engine for the group, even as its operations across other African markets contribute a growing share of revenue.

Dangote Cement also strengthened its balance sheet during the reporting period. Cash and cash equivalents increased 49.1% to ₦592.67 billion, while total financial liabilities declined 31.4% to ₦539.61 billion. Operating cash flow rose 41.5% to ₦1.83 trillion, supporting debt repayments and dividend distributions. Nevertheless, the company faces continued cost and investment pressures, including higher haulage expenses and capital commitments that reached ₦2.31 trillion. Its performance will therefore depend not only on maintaining revenue growth and operational efficiency but also on managing expansion spending and sustaining demand across its markets. With nine-month earnings already approaching ₦1 trillion, the results underline Dangote Cement’s central role in Nigeria’s industrial sector and the wider African building materials market.
