Tonya Osato Lawani is a Nigerian entrepreneur, trained economist, author, brand specialist and corporate leader whose more than two decades in business have established her as a formidable force across Nigeria’s entrepreneurial landscape. She is the Founder and Group Chief Executive of SEAL Group, a diversified business group with interests spanning manufacturing, advertising, hospitality, merchandising, printing, marketing communications and events. Her entrepreneurial journey began while she was an undergraduate at Ahmadu Bello University, where she studied Economics, eventually leading to the establishment of her first business, Virgin Vie Angel Limited, in 2005.

Lawani has since transformed SEAL Group into a multi-sector enterprise serving major Nigerian and multinational organisations. Its portfolio includes Virgin Vie Angel, ABC Inflatables Nigeria, The Virgin Hospitality Company, Expose Et Al and The Quick Print Shop, with the businesses delivering branding, merchandising, hospitality and print solutions to clients including Dangote Group, MTN, UBA, Multichoice, Transcorp, Reckitt Benckiser, Cadbury, Samsung, Nestlé and GTBank. Her business philosophy combines entrepreneurship with strong corporate governance, a quality reflected in her membership of the Institute of Directors, where she was inducted after completing the Company Direction Course and assessment process. She is also an alumna of Lagos Business School and the Metropolitan School of Business & Management in the UK, where she earned an MBA, and has completed executive programmes at Harvard University.

Her influence has increasingly extended beyond her own businesses into corporate boardrooms and entrepreneurship advocacy. In 2025, Lawani was appointed to the board of NASCON Allied Industries Plc, a member of the Dangote Group, strengthening her profile as a governance-focused business leader. She also serves on the boards of organisations including Tatum Bank and Corona Schools’ Trust Council, while her leadership experience has earned recognition from platforms celebrating African entrepreneurship and women in business. In November 2025, she received the Global Industry Award at the Global Entrepreneurs Award Gala in Ghana, recognising her contribution to hospitality, advertising, entrepreneurship and the modernisation of merchandising and branding services.

Beyond the boardroom, Lawani is an advocate for entrepreneurship, mentorship and women’s economic participation. She launched the Lagos Enterprise Summit and has consistently used her platform to encourage emerging entrepreneurs, particularly women, to develop the capacity and confidence required to build sustainable businesses. She is also the author of the bestselling iSucceed Business Planner, created as a practical tool for entrepreneurs, and has been recognised among women shaping Nigeria’s business future. In 2026, The Guardian included her among its 100 Inspiring and Award-Winning Amazons in Nigeria, highlighting her two-decade journey of enterprise building, ethical leadership and mentorship.

Today, Tonya Osato Lawani represents a generation of African business leaders proving that sustainable enterprise requires more than commercial ambition. Through SEAL Group, corporate governance, mentorship and advocacy, she has built an enduring career around innovation, integrity, leadership and opportunity creation. Her journey from a young entrepreneur building her first business in 2005 to the head of a diversified group and a recognised corporate board leader reflects a broader commitment to building institutions that can thrive, create value and open doors for the next generation.
