Longchamp Appoints Chinese Opera Star Chen Lijun as Local Brand Ambassador

French luxury fashion house Longchamp has named acclaimed Chinese Yue opera star Chen Lijun as its new local brand ambassador, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the Chinese market by partnering with one of the country’s most celebrated cultural figures. According to WWD and Longchamp, the appointment reflects the brand’s strategy of blending French craftsmanship with China’s rich artistic heritage while deepening its connection with younger luxury consumers.

Chen Lijun has emerged as one of China’s most influential opera performers, earning widespread recognition for helping introduce the centuries-old art of Yue opera to a new generation through acclaimed stage productions and television appearances. Longchamp said her authenticity, creativity, and modern interpretation of traditional culture closely align with the maison’s values of craftsmanship, elegance, and timeless style. The partnership is expected to feature campaigns highlighting the brand’s signature leather goods and ready-to-wear collections across the Chinese market.

The appointment comes as luxury brands continue to strengthen their presence in China by collaborating with influential figures from entertainment, sports, and the arts. Industry analysts note that cultural ambassadors increasingly play a key role in helping global fashion houses build deeper emotional connections with local consumers while celebrating homegrown talent and heritage. Longchamp has previously partnered with several prominent Chinese personalities as part of its long-term growth strategy in the country.

For Longchamp, the collaboration with Chen Lijun underscores the growing importance of cultural storytelling in luxury marketing. By embracing one of China’s most respected performing artists, the Parisian fashion house aims to strengthen its brand appeal in one of the world’s largest luxury markets while celebrating the enduring relevance of traditional Chinese culture in contemporary fashion.
