Haim Taib Honored with Angola’s Presidential Medal for Peace and Development After Three Decades of Partnership

Israeli entrepreneur and philanthropist Haim Taib has been awarded Angola’s Presidential Medal for Peace and Development, one of the country’s highest honors, in recognition of his three decades of commitment to national reconstruction, social investment, and economic collaboration.

President João Lourenço presented the award during a ceremony in Luanda, praising Taib’s long-standing role in strengthening cooperation between Angola and Israel, as well as his sustained contributions through Mitrelli Group, which has implemented large-scale projects across Angola’s health, education, agriculture, and water sectors.

I am deeply moved by this recognition from a nation I have come to consider home,” Taib said. “Angola’s progress over the years has been remarkable, and it has been a privilege to support initiatives that improve lives and foster sustainable development.”

According to Business Insider Africa, Taib’s Mitrelli Group has executed projects worth over $2 billion in Angola since 1993, including the development of rural infrastructure, vocational training centers, and agricultural empowerment programs. The award marks a symbolic milestone in the country’s post-war recovery and highlights the role of strategic partnerships in driving Africa’s long-term growth and peacebuilding efforts.
