Safran to Open €280 Million Landing Gear Plant in Morocco

French aerospace group Safran will invest €280 million ($332 million) to build a new aircraft landing gear manufacturing facility in Morocco, expanding the country’s footprint in global aerospace supply chains. The project was officially launched near Casablanca during a ceremony presided over by King Mohammed VI, as reported by Reuters.

The plant will be located in the Midparc aerospace industrial zone in Nouaceur and will manufacture advanced landing gear systems primarily for Airbus single-aisle aircraft programmes. According to Hespress, the facility will integrate machining, assembly, testing and maintenance operations, positioning Morocco as a strategic production hub within Safran’s global network.

Moroccan authorities said the investment is expected to create around 500 direct jobs and attract additional aerospace suppliers into the country’s industrial ecosystem. The factory is scheduled to begin operations in 2029 and will run on decarbonised energy, aligning with Morocco’s renewable energy strategy and Safran’s sustainability commitments.

Safran, which has operated in Morocco for more than two decades, described the project as a long-term investment in the country’s skilled workforce and industrial capacity, reinforcing Morocco’s position as one of Africa’s leading aerospace manufacturing destinations, Reuters reported.
