South African Business Confidence Surges in November on Tourism Recovery

South Africa’s business confidence index climbed in November, driven largely by the recovery in the tourism sector, according to figures released by the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI). Analysts noted that the rebound reflects improved domestic spending and increased international arrivals, which have boosted hospitality, transport, and retail businesses, as reported by Bloomberg.

Economists highlighted that sectors closely tied to travel and leisure have outperformed expectations, underpinning broader economic sentiment despite lingering global uncertainties. Reuters also noted that the increase in confidence may support investment and hiring decisions in the final quarter of 2025, providing a tailwind for the country’s economic growth.

The SACCI data showed that optimism was particularly strong among tourism-dependent regions, signaling that the sector could play a pivotal role in sustaining the economic recovery into 2026.
