All 5 ‘Hunger Games’ Films Return to Theaters Ahead of Sunrise on the Reaping

Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment are bringing all five Hunger Games films back to theaters for a limited engagement from September 3 to 7, giving fans the opportunity to revisit the blockbuster franchise before the release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. According to Variety and PEOPLE, each screening will include a different theatrical-exclusive sneak peek from the highly anticipated prequel, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 20, 2026.

The five-day event will feature The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Part 1, Mockingjay – Part 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, each shown on consecutive days. Jason Brenek, Chief Executive Officer of Fathom Entertainment, described Jennifer Lawrence’s portrayal of Katniss Everdeen as a landmark cinematic achievement and said the exclusive previews make the theatrical event a must-see experience for longtime fans and new audiences alike. Tickets are already on sale through Fathom Entertainment and participating cinemas.

The re-release also serves as the official countdown to The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the sixth film in the franchise based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling 2025 novel. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the prequel is set 24 years before the original Hunger Games and follows a young Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. The film stars Joseph Zada, Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Mckenna Grace, and Maya Hawke.

The return of the Hunger Games saga to the big screen reflects the franchise’s enduring popularity more than a decade after Jennifer Lawrence first brought Katniss Everdeen to audiences worldwide. Industry observers expect the theatrical event to generate renewed excitement ahead of Sunrise on the Reaping, positioning the prequel as one of the most anticipated film releases of 2026.
