The United Arab Emirates has committed $1.88 billion to develop the tourism sector in the Republic of the Congo, marking a bold investment aimed at positioning the Central African nation as a rising travel destination.
The deal involves a partnership with Omaar International, an Emirati firm that will lead the development of luxury eco-resorts, transport infrastructure, and conservation-linked tourism projects, as reported by Reuters.
The investment is expected to focus on unlocking Congo’s vast natural assets, including rainforests, wildlife reserves, and river systems, which remain largely underdeveloped despite their global tourism potential.
Officials say the initiative aims to diversify Congo’s economy away from oil dependence, create jobs, and attract international visitors, while promoting sustainable tourism and environmental preservation.
