Nigeria’s Tamunosoye Karibi George has been crowned Africa’s Top Model at the 2026 Miss World competition in Vietnam, securing an automatic place in the Top 40 quarterfinals of the global pageant, as reported by PUNCH news and BellaNaija. She emerged ahead of representatives from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa during the Top Model competition held at the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII.
The victory adds another major milestone to Karibi George’s Miss World journey. The 26 year old communications professional and model from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 in June after representing Bayelsa State. She is also an advocate for children with disabilities and special needs through her Beyond Labels initiative, which promotes inclusion, education and opportunities for vulnerable children.
For the winning runway showcase, Karibi George delivered a striking performance in a bright yellow mini dress with a sheer illusion bodice, intricate beadwork and a feathered finish, commanding the runway with confidence and theatrical movement. Her performance earned her the continental title and placed her among the four continental Top Model winners who automatically advanced to the next stage.
Karibi George now enters the Top 40 quarterfinals, bringing Nigeria closer to another strong finish at Miss World. The 73rd Miss World Festival is scheduled to culminate in Vietnam on September 5, 2026, where she will compete for the global crown.
