Ordinary People | September 4
Moses Inwang’s Ordinary People arrives on Netflix on September 4 as an eight episode action thriller drama. Set around the residents of an upscale estate, the series explores hidden secrets, ambition, survival, and the realities beneath seemingly perfect lives. The ensemble cast includes Ramsey Nouah, Chidi Mokeme, Adunni Ade, Michelle Dede and Lasisi Elenu.
Black Market | September 26
Black Market is already generating major attention ahead of its September 26 premiere in Lagos. The film, featuring Lateef Adedimeji, Itele D Icon, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada and others, is scheduled for a massive screening at Tafawa Balewa Square as part of an attempt to set a Guinness World Records mark for the largest audience watching a film in one location.
Agbara Nla: The Return | October 1
More than three decades after the original became a landmark in Nigerian faith based filmmaking, Agbara Nla: The Return brings the story back to the big screen. The reimagined production from Mount Zion Film Productions, Circuits and Sozo Films is scheduled for nationwide cinema release on October 1, with Mike Bamiloye returning alongside a new generation of the Mount Zion filmmaking team.
Five Figurines | November 13
Directed by Akay Mason, Five Figurines is set to arrive in Nigerian cinemas on November 13. The mystery drama features an impressive ensemble including Uche Montana, Mike Ezuruonye, Ini Edo, Odunlade Adekola, Bimbo Akintola, Chimezie Imo and Clinton Joshua. The story explores power, truth, vengeance and the consequences of difficult choices.
The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives | December 4
One of the year’s most anticipated Nigerian adaptations, The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives brings Lola Shoneyin’s acclaimed novel to the big screen. Directed by Daniel Oriahi, the film follows Baba Segi and his four wives as the arrival of his educated fourth wife, Bolanle, begins to expose long guarded secrets within the household. It opens in cinemas nationwide on December 4.
The Four: No One Fights Alone | December 11
Closing out the lineup is Funke Akindele’s The Four: No One Fights Alone. The emotionally driven drama centres on friendship, motherhood, resilience, sacrifice and the extraordinary strength of women. With Funke Akindele leading an all star cast that includes Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Waje, Richard Mofe Damijo, Timini Egbuson and Lateef Adedimeji, the film is scheduled for a nationwide cinema release on December 11.
