9Year Old Math Genius Charlotte Muritala Turns TikTok Into a Classroom

At just nine years old, Charlotte Muritala is using social media in an unconventional way, turning TikTok into a digital classroom where she teaches mathematics to other children, as reported by ChannelsTv. The JSS2 student from Offa, Kwara State, has attracted growing attention for her ability to explain topics such as algebra, fractions, cross multiplication and lowest common multiple in simple, step by step lessons.

Charlotte’s interest in mathematics began when she was about five years old, and her enthusiasm has continued to grow alongside her academic abilities. Using little more than a whiteboard and marker, she breaks difficult questions into smaller parts and demonstrates how to arrive at the solution rather than simply providing the answer. For Charlotte, mathematics is something she genuinely enjoys, describing the subject as fun even when some questions prove challenging.

Her online learning journey has also been supported by her family, with her mother creating a platform that allows Charlotte to share what she knows with other children. Her father describes her as a child who spends significant time learning and reading, while still enjoying the normal activities of childhood. Her mathematics teacher has equally recognised her exceptional ability and called for greater support, including access to qualified teachers, scholarships and funding, to help gifted children develop their potential.

Charlotte’s growing visibility highlights a wider opportunity for social media to become a tool for education rather than entertainment alone. Her message to children who struggle with mathematics is straightforward: keep practising, embrace mistakes and never give up. While the description of Charlotte as a “math genius” remains a media and social media label rather than a formally established assessment, her ability to communicate mathematical concepts at such a young age is already giving her a distinctive platform and showing how digital spaces can inspire a new generation of young learners.
