Veteran Nigerian actor, filmmaker and media entrepreneur Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has been named keynote speaker for the sixth International Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference, scheduled for 18 and 19 November 2026 at the MUSON Centre in Onikan, Lagos. Organised by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), the annual conference will bring together filmmakers, digital creators, streaming platforms, distributors, policymakers and other industry stakeholders to examine the future of content production and regulation in Nigeria. According to Channels Television, RMD’s appointment makes him the first male motion-picture practitioner to deliver the conference keynote, following media executive Mo Abudu in 2024 and filmmaker Bolanle Austen-Peters in 2025.
The 2026 edition will be held under the theme, “Film and Content Production in the Digital Era: Balancing Regulation and Innovation.” Discussions are expected to address the changing relationship between traditional film production, online creators and international streaming services, alongside questions surrounding censorship, copyright protection, content distribution and monetisation. NFVCB Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Shaibu Husseini, said RMD’s experience across entertainment, entrepreneurship and public service offers a valuable perspective on the policy decisions shaping Nigeria’s creative industries. The conference will provide a platform for industry participants and regulators to consider how oversight can protect audiences and promote responsible content while allowing creativity, investment and digital innovation to develop.
With a career spanning acting, journalism, production, public relations and government, RMD brings experience from several parts of Nigeria’s media and cultural landscape. He previously served as Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and has remained a prominent figure in Nollywood across film and television. His keynote comes as digital distribution continues to reshape how Nigerian productions reach local and international audiences, creating new commercial opportunities alongside regulatory and intellectual property challenges. The conference, named in honour of the late filmmaker and Africa Movie Academy Awards founder Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, seeks to strengthen dialogue between creative professionals, technology platforms and public institutions as Nigeria works to build a more sustainable digital content industry.
