Morocco Records Historic 19.8 Million Tourist Arrivals in 2025

Morocco welcomed 19.8 million tourists in 2025, marking a record-breaking year for its tourism industry, as confirmed by the country’s Ministry of Tourism. The figure represents a 14 percent increase year on year, reflecting the strongest performance the sector has ever recorded, as reported by Reuters citing official government data.

Tourism remains a central pillar of Morocco’s economy, contributing about 7 percent of gross domestic product, with authorities attributing the growth to expanded air connectivity, sustained destination marketing, and continued investment in hotel infrastructure and cultural tourism. Morocco world news said these efforts have helped broaden Morocco’s appeal beyond its traditional markets while strengthening its position as a leading travel destination in Africa and the Mediterranean.

Tourism revenues also climbed sharply, reaching 124 billion dirhams (around $13.5 billion) in the first eleven months of 2025, representing a 19 percent increase from the same period a year earlier, based on figures released by the tourism ministry and cited by Reuters. Xinhua similarly reported that rising visitor numbers were supported by improved services, new resort developments, and strong demand from European and Middle Eastern travellers.

The government views the record inflows as a major boost to its long-term tourism strategy, which targets 26 million annual visitors by 2030, aligned with Morocco’s preparations to co-host the FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Officials say the latest results reinforce confidence in the sector’s ability to drive foreign exchange earnings, job creation, and broader economic growth.
