Morocco Records 7% Rise in First-Quarter Tourist Arrivals

Morocco has reported a 7% increase in tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2026, underscoring the continued strength of its tourism sector despite global travel uncertainties, Reuters reported.

According to the country’s tourism ministry, Morocco welcomed approximately 4.3 million visitors between January and March, with March alone recording an 18% surge in arrivals.

Authorities attributed the growth to expanded air connectivity, diversification of source markets, and improved hospitality offerings, which have helped sustain momentum even as geopolitical tensions impact global travel demand.

Tourism revenues have also remained strong, reaching about 21.4 billion dirhams ($2.3 billion) by the end of February, reflecting a 22.2% year-on-year increase, according to official data.

The performance builds on a record 19.8 million tourists in 2025, reinforcing Morocco’s position as Africa’s most visited destination and supporting its long-term goal of attracting 26 million visitors by 2030.
