Libya’s Zallaf Oil and Gas Exports First Shipment from Chadar Oil Field

Libya’s state-owned Zallaf for Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company has announced the export of its first crude oil shipment from the Chadar oil field, marking a significant step in the North African country’s ongoing efforts to boost energy production and revenues.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Zallaf said the shipment represents a “milestone achievement” for the company and the national oil sector, reflecting Libya’s commitment to restoring output levels following years of disruptions caused by conflict and infrastructure challenges.

The crude cargo, loaded at the Mellitah terminal, was produced from newly operational wells at the Chadar field, which began pumping earlier this year. The company noted that the field’s production capacity is expected to rise to 20,000 barrels per day in the coming months as new drilling phases are completed.

According to Bloomberg and Reuters, Libya’s oil sector, managed under the National Oil Corporation (NOC), has seen renewed investment and stability in recent months, with state affiliates like Zallaf driving upstream developments to support the country’s economic recovery and export diversification.
