Lagos Ranks Third in Africa’s Hotel Development Pipeline for 2026

Lagos has emerged as one of Africa’s top hospitality investment hubs, ranking third on the continent’s hotel room development pipeline for 2026, reflecting sustained investor interest in Nigeria’s commercial capital, Nairametrics reported.

According to the W Hospitality Group 2025/2026 Hotel Chain Development Pipeline report, Nigeria, driven largely by Lagos, accounts for 48 hotel projects and over 7,300 rooms in development, placing it behind only Egypt and Morocco in Africa’s rankings.

City-level data shows Lagos remains a dominant force, ranking among the top African cities for new hotel room supply, supported by strong business travel demand, urban expansion, and its role as a regional economic hub, Radarr Africa noted.

Despite the strong pipeline, industry reports indicate that about one-third of hotel projects in Lagos are currently on hold, largely due to rising construction costs and macroeconomic pressures, even as long-term demand for quality hospitality assets remains robust.
