Jihan Mohin Dimack Makes History as First African Winner of Miss Grand International

Tanzania’s Jihan Mohin Dimack has made history after winning Miss Grand International 2026, becoming the first African woman to claim the international pageant’s crown. She was crowned on October 10 in Bangkok, Thailand, marking a landmark achievement for Tanzania and African representation in global beauty competitions. According to GMA News Online and Tanzania’s The Citizen, Dimack emerged ahead of contestants from Ecuador and the Netherlands, who finished as first and second runners-up respectively. Guatemala’s Ximena Carrillo and Vietnam’s Emoura Pham completed the top five, while the victory ended the Philippines’ Emma Tiglao’s reign as the previous titleholder.

Dimack’s achievement follows more than a decade of experience in modelling and beauty pageants. According to her profile on the official Miss Grand International website, she is of Tanzanian and Lebanese heritage and began modelling at the age of 17. She represented Tanzania at Miss Universe in 2016 after winning the national title, before returning to international pageantry as Miss Grand Tanzania 2026. Outside the competition circuit, she has lived in Tanzania, Lebanon and Mozambique and worked in China, building experience in modelling, sales and live commerce. Her international exposure and multicultural background have helped shape her advocacy for peace, diversity and respect across communities.

During the final question-and-answer segment, Dimack spoke about love as a force for addressing inequality and bringing people together despite differences in religion, nationality or background. Her message aligned with the pageant’s campaign against war and violence, which encourages peace, tolerance and respect for human dignity. The win places Tanzania in the history of Miss Grand International and marks a first for the African continent in the competition. Beyond the crown, Dimack’s victory offers a moment of visibility for African contestants on the global pageant stage, while highlighting the role of beauty competitions as platforms for cultural representation and public advocacy.
