Jux, Yemi Alade and Others Celebrate Wins at 9th AFRIMA Awards

Africa’s top music stars were honoured at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held in Lagos, Nigeria, spotlighting excellence across the continent’s music industry. Tanzanian singer Jux claimed the Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa, while Nigerian star Yemi Alade’s “You Are” from the animated series Iyanu won Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary, showcasing her versatility, according to ChannelsTv.

The awards also recognised artists from North, West, Central and Southern Africa, reflecting AFRIMA’s pan‑African focus, as highlighted by Okay News. Performances and appearances across the event underscored the vibrancy and growing influence of African music globally.

Industry veterans received Lifetime Achievement Awards, celebrating their long-standing contributions to the continent’s creative sector. Organisers noted that the diversity of winners illustrates the continent’s rising cultural and economic impact in music, according to event commentators.

The 2026 AFRIMA edition reinforces Africa’s position as a major hub for musical talent, uniting artists, producers and fans from across the continent and the diaspora.
