Egyptian industrialist Ahmed Elsewedy is expanding his company’s portfolio into the vertical transportation market as Elsewedy Electric launches RYZE, a new brand covering elevators, escalators and moving walkways. Unveiled on November 1 by Elsewedy Electric Building Solutions, the new venture represents the group’s entry into a market closely linked to Egypt’s expanding residential, commercial and infrastructure development. The company is committing an initial EGP 100 million, approximately $1.8 million, to the business, with plans to increase investment as demand and sales grow. According to reporting by Billionaires.Africa, the company is targeting EGP 1 billion, or approximately $17.8 million, in elevator and escalator sales in 2027.
RYZE products will be built around Japanese technology and include elevators with load capacities ranging from 320 kilogrammes to 2,500 kilogrammes, escalators designed for rises of between two and 7.5 metres, and moving walkways extending up to 120 metres. Elsewedy Electric Building Solutions says the equipment can reduce energy consumption by as much as 30 per cent. The brand will target property developers, commercial construction firms, contractors and building owners, while competing through pricing, local maintenance and after-sales support. Salma Hany Mahmoud, chief executive of the building solutions unit, said the initial investment would be scaled in line with the business’s growth. The company has not publicly identified its Japanese technology partner or disclosed where the equipment will be manufactured.
The expansion gives Elsewedy Electric an opportunity to extend its role beyond electrical products and infrastructure into a market supported by urbanisation and large-scale property development. The company plans to establish RYZE in Egypt before expanding into Gulf and African markets, drawing on its existing regional network. Founded by the Elsewedy family in 1938, the group has grown into a major industrial and infrastructure business with operations across multiple markets and activities spanning cables, electrical products, engineering, construction and building solutions. Its latest move reflects a broader strategy to capture opportunities across the infrastructure and construction value chain, while positioning an Egyptian brand to compete in regional markets for building technologies.
