Paramount Pictures has expanded the cast of Crawl 2, its upcoming sequel to the 2019 survival horror film, with five new additions: Sarah Niles, Ray Panthaki, Richard Brake, Charley Palmer Rothwell and Flula Borg. The casting announcement, reported exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, brings together performers with experience across film and television as production continues on the follow-up directed by Alexandre Aja. The five actors join previously announced leads Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd, with the film scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 16 July 2027. Although the studio has not disclosed the new cast members’ roles, their addition expands the ensemble for a sequel expected to carry forward the original film’s combination of natural disaster, survival and creature-driven suspense.

Niles is widely recognised for playing Dr Sharon Fieldstone in the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso, a performance that earned her two Primetime Emmy nominations. Her recent screen credits include F1, Heads of State and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Panthaki, meanwhile, has appeared in The Serpent Queen, Boiling Point, Official Secrets and Colette. Brake is known for his performances in Barbarian, Mandy and Batman Begins, as well as television appearances in Peaky Blinders and Game of Thrones. Rothwell’s credits include The Running Man, Dunkirk and the television series Industry, while Borg has appeared in the Pitch Perfect franchise, The Suicide Squad and Tulsa King. Their casting adds a mix of established character actors and comedy performers to the production.
Aja returns to direct the sequel and co-write its screenplay with Jason Harry Pagan, Andrew Deutschman and Gregory Levasseur. Producers include Aja, Sam Raimi and Craig Flores, with Levasseur, Kevan Van Thompson and Zainab Azizi serving as executive producers. The original Crawl, released in 2019, followed a young woman and her father struggling to survive after a hurricane traps them in a flooded Florida home with aggressive alligators. The film grossed more than $91 million worldwide, establishing a commercial foundation for a follow-up. Crawl 2 is expected to introduce a new survival scenario involving dangerous animals escaping from New York’s Central Park Zoo during a violent storm. With its expanded cast and confirmed summer 2027 release date, the sequel is positioning itself for another theatrical run in the creature-feature horror market.
