Accra, Ghana, will host the 2026 Elevate Africa Annual Convening on October 28 and 29 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, bringing together prominent African leaders for the Presidential Roundtable themed “Africa: Defining Her Future.” The gathering is expected to provide a platform for high-level conversations on Africa’s leadership, economic transformation, governance, regional cooperation and the continent’s long-term development priorities, with a focus on the decisions and partnerships needed to shape its future.
The announced list of distinguished leaders includes His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone; His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, former President of Ghana; Her Excellency Dr Joyce Banda, former President of Malawi; Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of Ghana; His Excellency Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former President of Nigeria; and Her Excellency Dr Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius. Their participation brings together perspectives shaped by different national experiences in public leadership, governance and development across West and Southern Africa and the wider continent.
The Presidential Roundtable’s theme places Africa’s future at the centre of the conversation, creating space to consider how African countries can strengthen institutions, mobilise investment, expand economic opportunities and respond to evolving global challenges. As the continent navigates questions around industrialisation, trade, youth employment, technology and sustainable development, dialogue among current and former heads of state can contribute to broader discussions about shared priorities, regional collaboration and the role of African leadership in shaping global outcomes.
Through its annual convening, Elevate Africa seeks to bring influential voices together around the continent’s development and leadership agenda. The 2026 edition in Accra will place renewed emphasis on the choices, partnerships and long-term vision required to build Africa’s future, with the Presidential Roundtable serving as a focal point for conversations on leadership, responsibility and the continent’s next chapter.
