Mo Abudu Takes EbonyLife Place Global With London Launch Set for October

Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu is taking the EbonyLife Place concept beyond Nigeria, with EbonyLife Place London set to open in October 2026, as reported by Pulse and Punch. Located on Wandsworth Road, the new destination is being positioned as the United Kingdom’s first cinema dedicated exclusively to African and Black films, creating a permanent platform for African storytelling in one of the world’s major cultural capitals.

The project goes beyond cinema. Abudu says the venue will combine film with African fashion, music, food and art, featuring the Amani Auditorium, Grand Reception, Afrobeat Restaurant, Fèhintì Lounge, Maji Concession & Bar, Zuri Retail and The Living Wall Gallery. The auditorium is expected to seat about 180 people.

The London expansion represents a significant step in Abudu’s broader effort to take African creative content into global markets. Rather than relying solely on festivals, streaming platforms or occasional theatrical releases, EbonyLife Place London is designed to provide African and Black filmmakers with a dedicated physical home where their work can reach audiences consistently.

For Nigeria’s creative economy, the launch could become an important piece of international cultural infrastructure. A permanent London platform could create opportunities not only for Nollywood filmmakers, but also for African artists, designers, chefs and other creatives seeking stronger connections with global audiences. The October opening will therefore be watched as a potential new chapter in the internationalisation of African entertainment.
