Leading Nollywood actors Lateef Adedimeji and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman will headline Black Market, a new feature film from Rixel Studios, as the producers prepare to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest film screening at a single venue. According to Premium Times and Vanguard, the film is scheduled to premiere on 26 September 2026 at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, where organisers aim to gather 50,000 people, surpassing the current record of 43,624 attendees. The record attempt is being organised in collaboration with FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios, and Switch Visuals Production.
Black Market is Rixel Studios’ second feature film following the success of Red Circle in 2025. Written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Fatimah Binta Gimsay, and directed by Gimsay, the movie was filmed in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and features an ensemble cast that includes Uzor Arukwe, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Scarlet Gomez, Susan Pwajok, Itele D Icon, Folagade Banks, and Tomiwa Tegbe, among others. The producers describe the project as an ambitious blend of compelling storytelling and large-scale audience engagement designed to elevate Nollywood’s global profile.
Speaking on the project, Rixel Studios founder Nora Awolowo said the production reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and pushing creative boundaries after lessons learned from its debut feature. Ladun Awobokun, Chief Content Officer of FilmOne Studios, described the Guinness World Record attempt as an opportunity to showcase Nigerian creativity and the strength of Nollywood on the global stage, while Damilola Osikoya, Chief Executive Officer of Switch Visuals Production, said the initiative demonstrates what young creatives can achieve through collaboration and bold thinking.
If successful, the event would establish a new Guinness World Record while highlighting Nollywood’s growing influence as one of the world’s largest film industries. Industry observers say the ambitious premiere could attract significant international attention, reinforce Lagos’ status as a leading African entertainment hub, and demonstrate how large-scale collaborations are redefining the business and global visibility of Nigeria’s creative economy.
