The government of the Central African Republic has requested assistance from Russia to help address persistent energy shortages, following discussions between President Faustin‑Archange Touadéra and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, as reported by Reuters.
During the meeting at the Kremlin, Touadéra highlighted the country’s pressing electricity and fuel supply challenges and expressed interest in deeper cooperation with Russia to develop the nation’s energy infrastructure. Putin said both countries have opportunities to strengthen collaboration in several sectors, including energy, agriculture, and infrastructure, emphasizing the potential for broader economic cooperation between Moscow and Bangui.
