Nigerian street pop star Seyi Vibez headlined the Grand Turnup Affair, GTA, an Independence Day special organised by Mainland Block Party in Lagos. The event took place on October 1 at Sol Beach, Elegushi Private Beach, bringing together music lovers for an evening of live performances, nightlife and street culture that continued into the early hours of October 2. The singer arrived on stage in a red jacket, red shoes and black three quarter jeans, delivering a high energy set that drew strong reactions from the crowd.
Seyi Vibez performed several songs from his latest project SWAGUU, including “GTA” and “Dejavu”, alongside tracks from his recent catalogue. The performance of “GTA”, the song that inspired the event’s title, became one of the major highlights of the night as fans sang along with the singer. Peruzzi, Shoday, Muyeez and Terry Apala were also among the artistes who performed, while DJs and other supporting acts kept the beachside gathering active throughout the night. The event’s open air setting and Independence Day timing gave the celebration a distinctly Lagos nightlife atmosphere.
The Grand Turnup Affair continues Mainland Block Party’s growing presence within Lagos’ youth entertainment and street culture scene. Seyi Vibez has also featured prominently in the platform’s 2026 calendar, having headlined its May Day edition at the Police College in Ikeja, where he was presented with Audiomack plaques recognising 500 million, one billion and two billion streams on the platform. His latest appearance further reflects the connection between Nigeria’s fast evolving street pop movement and large scale live entertainment, with Mainland Block Party positioning its events as a meeting point for established artistes, emerging talent and a young Lagos audience.
