Rali Mampeule has emerged as one of South Africa’s most influential entrepreneurs in real estate, digital infrastructure, and community development. Born on December 22, 1979, in Mokwasele village, Modjadji, Rali grew up in Daveyton township in Benoni. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of South Africa and later completed an Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate at Harvard University. These academic foundations provided him with the expertise to bridge complex property markets with practical solutions that meet the needs of everyday South Africans.

Rali’s professional journey has been defined by innovation and impact. As the founder and CEO of the African Housing and Infrastructure Fund (AHIF), and previously the South African Housing and Infrastructure Fund (SAHIF), he has pioneered models that convert unused and vacant land into serviced stands for housing development. His approach has enabled tens of thousands of affordable homes, addressing a critical need in South Africa’s housing sector while fostering economic inclusion and community stability.

In addition to his work in real estate, Rali serves in strategic leadership roles across multiple boards. He is Chairman of the Sustainable Material and Construction Technologies (SMaCT) Research Centre at the University of Johannesburg, a board member of MetroFibre Networx, and plays an active role with the Global Surgery Foundation. Through these roles, he brings governance expertise, strategic insight, and a vision for sustainable development that spans both industry and social impact.

Rali’s philanthropic efforts complement his business achievements. Together with his wife Makentse Mampeule, he established the Mampeule Foundation, supporting property education, bursaries for tertiary students, global health initiatives, and community development programmes. He is also a founding donor of the Global Surgery Foundation, helping expand equitable access to safe surgery globally. In 2019, Rali received the Socio-Economic Impact Award from the South African Institute of Black Property Practitioners (SAIBPP), and in 2022 he was named among the Top 100 Property Leaders in South Africa. He won the South African Community Builder of the Year Award in 2023 and was nominated for the African Leadership Magazine’s African Philanthropist of the Year in 2025.
