Pure DC Advances Finland AI Data Centre With Microsoft Agreement

Pure Data Centres Group (Pure DC) is accelerating the development of a major artificial intelligence data centre campus in Finland after securing a long-term agreement with Microsoft, reinforcing Europe’s position as a fast-growing hub for AI infrastructure. According to Reuters and Pure DC, the London-based hyperscale data centre developer is building a large-scale AI campus in Seinäjoki, western Finland, while Microsoft has leased capacity at the company’s Amsterdam facility as demand for cloud computing and AI services continues to surge. The developments form part of Pure DC’s broader expansion strategy following $2.7 billion in new financing secured earlier this year.

The Finland campus is designed to deliver more than 500 megawatts of IT capacity, supported by over 700 MVA of renewable electricity and modular, AI-ready infrastructure equipped with direct liquid cooling technology. Pure DC said the site has been selected for its abundant renewable energy, reliable power grid, and favourable climate, making it well suited for next-generation AI workloads. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s agreement to lease the Amsterdam facility highlights continued investment by hyperscale cloud providers seeking additional computing capacity to support generative AI applications.

The company’s recent $2.7 billion financing package includes $2.15 billion secured against its Dublin and Amsterdam campuses, alongside an expanded $550 million corporate financing facility to support new developments across Europe and the Middle East. Pure DC said the capital will enable it to accelerate construction of AI infrastructure while meeting growing customer demand from global technology companies investing heavily in artificial intelligence.

For Europe, the Finland development reflects the continent’s increasing importance in the global race to build AI infrastructure. Analysts say access to renewable energy, resilient power networks, and strategic partnerships with hyperscale cloud providers such as Microsoft are positioning Nordic countries as preferred destinations for large-scale data centres. As AI adoption continues to expand, projects like Pure DC’s Finland campus are expected to play a critical role in strengthening Europe’s digital infrastructure and supporting long-term economic growth.
