OpenAI Closes $110 Billion Funding Round Backed by Amazon, Nvidia and SoftBank

OpenAI has completed a landmark $110 billion private funding round, drawing major backing from Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank Group, according to reporting by Reuters.

Reuters reported that the round ranks among the largest private capital raises in history, significantly increasing OpenAI’s valuation and reinforcing investor confidence in the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence technologies. The funding is expected to support the development of advanced AI systems, expand computing infrastructure, and accelerate global deployment of OpenAI’s products and services.

As part of the transaction, Amazon and Nvidia are set to deepen strategic partnerships with OpenAI, particularly in cloud infrastructure and high-performance computing, areas considered essential for training and scaling frontier AI models, Reuters noted. SoftBank’s participation further underscores growing institutional appetite for long-term exposure to AI innovation.

According to the company’s official statement, the new capital will be directed toward scaling AI capabilities responsibly while broadening access to enterprise and consumer applications worldwide. The deal signals continued momentum in the global AI investment cycle and positions OpenAI at the forefront of large-scale technology financing in 2026.
