Halima Aliko Dangote Driving Growth and Innovation Across Africa’s Industrial Landscape

Halima Aliko Dangote stands out as one of Africa’s most influential corporate leaders, shaping the strategy and commercial operations of the Dangote Group, the continent’s largest industrial conglomerate. Halima’s professional journey began at KPMG, where she honed her analytical skills and developed a deep understanding of business operations. She later joined the Dangote Group, where she has held several senior management roles. Among these was her tenure as Executive Director of Dangote Flour Mills, where she led the company from operating losses to profitability. She also served as Executive Director of NASCON Allied Industries Plc, strengthening the company’s performance and contributing to its growth in consumer products. Today, she continues to serve on NASCON’s board as a non-executive director.

In 2019, Halima was appointed Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations of Dangote Industries Limited, a role in which she oversees customer strategy, commercial operations, strategic procurement, branding, and corporate services. Her leadership focuses on enhancing the customer experience, driving growth, and increasing long-term value across the conglomerate’s extensive operations. She also sits on the board of Dangote Cement Plc as a non-executive director, reflecting her broad influence within Africa’s largest industrial group.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Halima engages with initiatives that shape business leadership and entrepreneurship in Africa. She serves as President of the Board of The Africa Center in New York, an institution dedicated to advancing engagement between Africa and the global community through policy, business, and culture. She is a board member of Endeavor Nigeria, which supports high-impact entrepreneurs, and a member of Women Corporate Directors (WCD), an international organisation promoting women’s representation on corporate boards.

Her educational background reflects her commitment to leadership excellence. Halima holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the American Intercontinental University in London and a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster Business School in the United Kingdom. She has also participated in executive education programs at Harvard Business School, Kellogg School of Management, and Columbia Business School, equipping her with global perspectives that she brings to African business strategy.

Halima is also a trustee of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Dangote Group, which focuses on health, education, and community development across Nigeria and Africa. Her involvement demonstrates a blend of commercial leadership with social responsibility, reinforcing her commitment to sustainable growth and community impact.
