Eni Discovers 2 Trillion Cubic Feet of Gas Offshore Egypt

Italy’s energy major Eni has announced a significant natural gas discovery of around 2 trillion cubic feet offshore Egypt, reinforcing the country’s position as a key energy hub in the Mediterranean.

The discovery was made in the Nargis offshore block in the Eastern Mediterranean, where early drilling results confirmed substantial gas reserves, as reported by Reuters.

The find is expected to boost Egypt’s gas production capacity, supporting domestic energy demand while enhancing export potential, particularly to Europe, which has been seeking alternative gas supplies amid shifting global energy dynamics.

Eni, already a major operator in Egypt following its landmark Zohr gas field discovery, continues to expand its footprint in the region, leveraging existing infrastructure to accelerate development timelines.
