Nigeria’s Dangote Group has signed a $400 million construction equipment agreement with China’s XCMG Construction Machinery to help accelerate the expansion of its Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals complex near Lagos, according to CNBC Africa.
The deal will see Dangote acquire a range of advanced heavy construction machinery to support the refinery expansion and associated infrastructure projects. Executives said the additional equipment will enhance construction capacity as the company works toward completing the refinery expansion within the next three years, Tribune Online reported.
The expansion is designed to increase the refinery’s processing capacity from about 650 000 barrels per day to around 1.4 million barrels per day, positioning it among the largest refining facilities globally once fully operational, according to industry sources and the Reuters report.
Dangote said the agreement is a strategic investment that will deepen its industrial footprint and support its long-term goal of becoming a $100 billion enterprise by 2030, reinforcing its role in Nigeria’s energy and manufacturing sectors.
