A trained family physician and public health specialist, Dr. Oreh earned her medical degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2003. She went on to obtain a Master’s in International Health Management from Imperial College London and a Master of Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

Her academic and professional development includes advanced training from globally recognized institutions such as Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the University of Oxford, further equipping her to navigate the complex intersection of policy, leadership, and healthcare delivery.

Her early work with the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) marked a turning point in Nigeria’s blood safety program. Between 2009 and 2014, Dr. Oreh coordinated national efforts, supported by the CDC and PEPFAR, to strengthen access to safe blood, particularly in underserved areas.

She later took on a senior role at the Federal Ministry of Health as the Country Director of Planning, Research & Statistics, where she focused on evidence-based programming, maternal health outcomes, and systemic health policy reform.

Beyond her government roles, Dr. Oreh is the founder and CEO of Kaibeya Care Foundation Africa, a non-profit committed to improving healthcare and education access in rural and low-income communities. She also serves on multiple boards, including the White Ribbon Alliance Nigeria, PAMO University of Medical Sciences, and other organizations dedicated to health systems strengthening and women’s empowerment.

Appointed in 2023 as Rivers State’s Commissioner for Health, she launched the “Health4AllRivers” strategy, which emphasizes public–private partnerships, improved health governance, and decentralized responses to disease outbreaks. Her approach integrates grassroots health equity with data-driven policy execution, ensuring that public health solutions are both scalable and inclusive.

A survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Dr. Oreh has become a passionate advocate for universal health coverage and financial protection in healthcare. Her personal health journey informs her policy perspective and underscores her commitment to building systems that leave no one behind. As a 2019 Aspen Institute New Voices Fellow and a 2023 Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Fellow, she continues to contribute to global discussions on equitable healthcare delivery and sustainable development.

Dr. Adaeze Oreh stands at the intersection of service, strategy, and advocacy, a leader redefining what resilient, people-centered healthcare means in Nigeria and across Africa.
