ICWTE 2025: Wellness Tourism Meets Economic Promise in The Gambia

The International Conference on Wellness Tourism and Economy (ICWTE) will take place on 3 November 2025 in Serrekunda, The Gambia. The gathering will bring together industry experts, policymakers, business leaders and scholars to explore how wellness tourism can become a powerful driver of economic growth and community development.

Wellness tourism is increasingly shaping global travel preferences as visitors seek holistic experiences that combine health, relaxation and culture. ICWTE will build on this momentum by creating a platform for dialogue on sustainable wellness destinations, health-focused retreats and the economic opportunities that come with integrating wellness into tourism strategy.

A central aim of the conference is to highlight how wellness tourism can generate employment, strengthen local supply chains and attract investment while also preserving cultural heritage. Another key objective is to promote policy frameworks and public-private partnerships that ensure wellness tourism is inclusive, environmentally responsible and economically transformative.

Serrekunda offers a meaningful setting for this event. The Gambia has been steadily expanding its tourism profile through community-based initiatives, natural beauty and cultural richness. By hosting ICWTE, the country is signaling its intention to diversify its tourism sector and position wellness as a defining pillar of its growth.

For those invested in the future of tourism, ICWTE 2025 will provide more than discussions. It is an opportunity to connect with global and regional leaders, shape strategies for a rapidly growing sector and contribute to a vision of Africa as a destination where wellness and economic opportunity go hand in hand.
