TikTok is expanding its comment experience with a new set of interactive features that allow users to respond to videos with voice messages, polls and multiple photos, according to ABC News. The update introduces Voice Comments, Comment Polls, Photo Carousel Comments and Live Photo Comments, as the platform seeks to turn its comment section into a richer space for conversation and community engagement. TikTok says more than 1.7 billion comments are shared on the platform every day.
The new Voice Comments feature allows users to record audio messages of up to 60 seconds directly within the comment section, with the feature rolling out globally over the next month to users aged 18 and above. Comment Polls give creators another way to engage audiences by allowing them to add polls to their own videos, select up to five response options and monitor voting results directly within the comments. The poll feature is already available globally.
TikTok is also expanding photo based interactions. Photo Carousel Comments will allow users to share up to nine images in a single comment, while Live Photo Comments enable users to post Live Photos that include a brief motion effect. Live Photo Comments are already available globally, with Photo Carousel Comments scheduled to roll out globally over the coming month.
The changes could give creators, brands and communities more ways to drive participation beyond likes and traditional text responses. By bringing audio, voting and richer visual storytelling into the comment section, TikTok is effectively turning comments into another content layer within the platform, potentially increasing the time users spend interacting with creators and each other.
