Vodafone Beats Revenue Estimates as Germany Returns to Growth

Vodafone Group reported first quarter results that exceeded market expectations, driven by stronger service revenue growth in Germany and continued momentum across its African and Turkish operations. According to Bloomberg, organic service revenue rose 5.2% in the quarter ended June, outperforming analysts’ forecasts of 5.1%. The performance prompted the telecommunications giant to raise its financial guidance following the consolidation of its majority stake in Kenya’s Safaricom through subsidiary Vodacom.

Germany, Vodafone’s largest market, returned to growth as improvements in wholesale revenue and customer performance helped offset previous regulatory headwinds. The company now expects adjusted EBITDA after leases of between €13.0 billion and €13.3 billion for the financial year, up from its previous forecast of €11.9 billion to €12.2 billion, while maintaining adjusted free cash flow guidance of €2.6 billion to €2.9 billion. “We have had a strong start to the year with broad based business growth,” Chief Executive Margherita Della Valle said, adding that the company expects full year earnings to reach the upper end of its revised guidance.

The results highlight Vodafone’s improving operational performance after years of restructuring, with Germany’s recovery reinforcing confidence in its largest European market while Africa continues to deliver robust growth through rising demand for mobile data and financial services. For investors, the upgraded outlook signals stronger earnings visibility and demonstrates the strategic value of Vodafone’s expanding African footprint, particularly following the integration of Safaricom into the group’s financial results.

Looking ahead, Vodafone’s ability to sustain growth in Germany while capitalising on expanding digital connectivity and financial services across Africa will be central to its long term strategy. The company’s performance will also be closely watched as it advances integration initiatives, pursues cost efficiencies and strengthens its position in key European and African telecommunications markets.
