LVMH Partners With IFM Fashion School to Launch Research Chair on Science and Creativity

LVMH has partnered with the Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) to establish a new Research Chair in Science and Creativity, reinforcing the luxury group’s commitment to advancing innovation at the intersection of fashion, science, and technology. According to LVMH and IFM, the five-year academic partnership will support cutting-edge research into how scientific disciplines, including artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and material innovation, can enhance creative processes within the fashion and luxury industries, WWD and Vogue Business reported.

The new chair will bring together researchers, students, designers, engineers, and industry experts to explore emerging technologies and their influence on fashion creation. The programme will fund research projects, conferences, academic publications, executive education, and specialised courses for IFM students while fostering collaboration between academia and the luxury sector. LVMH said the initiative reflects its long-term strategy of investing in education and innovation to prepare future generations of creative talent for an increasingly technology-driven industry.

The collaboration further strengthens the longstanding relationship between LVMH and IFM, one of the world’s leading fashion schools, whose board is chaired by Sidney Toledano, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH Fashion Group. The partnership joins a growing portfolio of industry-backed research chairs at IFM supported by leading luxury houses, focusing on areas such as craftsmanship, sustainability, and creative materials. The addition of the Science and Creativity Chair reflects the industry’s growing emphasis on combining scientific research with artistic excellence to drive future innovation.

For both LVMH and IFM, the initiative represents a strategic investment in the future of luxury. Analysts say the research chair will help shape the next generation of designers and business leaders by encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, accelerating innovation in fashion, and strengthening France’s position as a global centre for luxury education, creativity, and research.
