Meet Dr. Ayodele Renner The Paediatrician Transforming Child Health Education in Africa

Dr. Ayodele Renner is a Nigerian consultant paediatrician, child health advocate, health educator, and digital health innovator widely recognized for his mission to improve child healthcare through education, advocacy, and technology. Popularly known as “The Noisy Naija Paediatrician,” he has become one of Nigeria’s most influential medical voices, using social media and public engagement to simplify complex health information for parents and caregivers while championing better health outcomes for children. With more than a decade of clinical practice, research, and training, his impact extends far beyond hospital walls.

A graduate of the University of Lagos, Dr. Renner earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree before advancing his specialist training in paediatrics. He later became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, a distinction that reflects his expertise and contribution to child healthcare in the region. Throughout his career, he has combined clinical excellence with a passion for public health communication, recognizing early on that many preventable childhood illnesses stem from misinformation and inadequate access to reliable healthcare guidance.

His journey into health advocacy began in 2017 when he realized that many parents lacked access to basic but critical child health information. Determined to bridge this gap, he launched educational content across social media platforms, using humor, relatable storytelling, and practical advice to engage audiences. His unique communication style quickly earned him the nickname “The Noisy Naija Paediatrician” and helped him reach millions of parents with information on immunization, nutrition, child development, disease prevention, and general childcare. As he explained in an interview with Gavi’s VaccinesWork platform, social media enabled him to reach far more people than traditional clinical practice alone could achieve.

Beyond advocacy, Dr. Renner is the Co-Founder of Agnosys Care on Demand, a healthcare technology platform that delivers digital health solutions, vaccination services, home nursing support, and medical consultations. Through this venture, he has contributed to improving healthcare accessibility and quality assurance for families and healthcare providers alike.

One of his most impactful initiatives is The Baby Convention, a pioneering parenting and childcare conference created to equip parents with expert knowledge, practical skills, and access to trusted healthcare professionals. The event brings together medical experts, parents, caregivers, and childcare brands to address issues ranging from breastfeeding and nutrition to child development and maternal wellbeing. The convention has been widely recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading parenting education platforms.

Dr. Renner’s influence has earned him several notable recognitions. In 2023, he was nominated for the Force of Wellness Award at the Trendupp Awards and the Health Influencer of the Year Award at the Private Sector Health Awards for his outstanding contributions to health education and public awareness. His work has also been recognized by the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, which included him among its Volunteer Hall of Fame Champions for his commitment to improving healthcare outcomes in Nigeria.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Renner has become a trusted voice on issues affecting children and families, including vaccination awareness, maternal mental health, responsible technology use among children, and community healthcare education. Through outreach programs, media appearances, and partnerships with healthcare organizations, he continues to challenge misinformation while empowering parents with evidence based knowledge.
