New James Bond Search Officially Begins as 007 Auditions Get Underway

The hunt for the next James Bond has officially begun, ending years of speculation over who will succeed Daniel Craig as cinema’s most iconic spy. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed this week that auditions are now underway for the next actor to take on the role of 007, with casting director Nina Gold leading the global search, as reported by Variety, People, and the Los Angeles Times.

The upcoming Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for the Dune franchise, while Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, has been tapped to write the screenplay. Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman are also attached to the project, which will become the first fully developed Bond film under Amazon MGM’s creative control following its takeover of the franchise in 2025.

Among the names dominating bookmakers’ predictions is Callum Turner, whose performances in Fantastic Beasts, The Capture, and Masters of the Air have made him a strong frontrunner. Australian actor Jacob Elordi has also emerged as a major contender following acclaimed performances in Euphoria and Saltburn, with entertainment commentators suggesting he may now be “in pole position” for the role.

Other actors repeatedly linked to the coveted role include Harris Dickinson, Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Theo James. While no official shortlist has been confirmed, industry observers say the studio is likely searching for an actor capable of carrying the franchise for the next decade or more as Bond enters a new era.
