Dr. Vee Kativhu The Global Education Voice Inspiring a Generation of Young Women

Varaidzo “Vee” Kativhu is a British Zimbabwean education activist, international speaker, author, and digital creator widely recognized for her work in widening access to higher education for young people, particularly girls from underrepresented backgrounds. A double doctorate holder and founder of the Empowered by Vee platform, she has become one of the most visible young advocates for educational equity and youth empowerment in the United Kingdom and beyond.

Varaidzo Kativhu’s journey is rooted in academic excellence and lived experience. She studied at the University of Oxford, where she completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees, later earning a Doctorate in Education from the University of Bristol. Her academic path, shaped by determination and access challenges, became the foundation for her advocacy work focused on breaking barriers to elite education and increasing representation in global academic spaces.

Her rise as a public figure began through social media, where she started sharing educational content, study advice, and motivational insights for students worldwide. This digital presence evolved into a global platform, Empowered by Vee, through which she delivers mentorship, workshops, and speaking engagements aimed at supporting young people navigating academic systems and career pathways.

Kativhu’s impact has been recognized internationally. In 2021, she received a Diana Award for her humanitarian work and youth advocacy. She was also selected by the United Nations as a Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting her contribution to education-focused global development efforts. In the same year, British Vogue named her a Force for Change, acknowledging her influence in reshaping narratives around education and opportunity.

In 2023, she was included in the BBC 100 Women list, which celebrates influential women making an impact globally, where she was recognized for her work as a content creator and educator. She has also been identified as a Rare Rising Star by the UK Parliament, further reflecting her growing influence in policy and youth development conversations.

In 2024, Varaidzo Kativhu received an honorary degree from the University of Bradford, becoming one of the youngest recipients of the honour from the institution, in recognition of her contribution to education advocacy and youth empowerment.

Looking ahead, Varaidzo Kativhu continues to expand her global impact through education advocacy, digital storytelling, and public speaking. Her work remains centered on making education more accessible, inclusive, and empowering for young people, particularly girls from underserved communities. Through consistency, visibility, and purpose-driven leadership, she continues to shape a new global narrative around education and opportunity.
